Caster adjusting tool
Applicable to the following vehicles:
BUICK FWD 1985 and Up Electra
LeSabre 1986
Cadillac FWD 1985 and Up DeVille
Fleetwood
Oldsmobile FWD 1985 and Up “98”
1986 Delta 88
1. Inspect suspension for loose, worn, or bent parts
2. Determine amount of caster change needed.
3. Remove 3 upper struts nuts and brackets
4. Raise vehicle at designated jacking points allowing strut to hang free of strut tower.
5. using template included in kit mark area around single round hole in top of strut tower.
6. using 1/4″ drill bit, drill several holes in the marked area.
7. use 1/4″ rotary file to elongate and clean 1 1/2″ hole.
8. Lower vehicle so strut bolts are located in tower holes. DO NOT LOWER VEHICLE ALL the WAY. Tires should be touching slightly; turn plates.
9. Install caster adjusting tool.
10. Turn tool nut to change caster. Readings can be taken any time without bolt down strut.
11. When the desired caster has been obtained, install three strut nuts and torque (18 ft lb.s) to manufacturer’s spec.
12. Recheck caster and proceed with alignment. Road test vehicle.
